     Melinda Ennis-Roughton -

Melinda is the Executive Director of Family Connection, Glynn County, which forms cross sector collaborative programs to improve the outcomes of families and children in Glynn County. Prior to that, she was the Executive Director of Georgia’s WIN List, a political action committee that helps elect progressive women for state-wide and state legislative offices.

Melinda has an extensive background in the areas of strategic development and marketing in both the private and non-profit arenas.

Melinda was the Owner/Principal of MELWORKS, Inc. a marketing and consulting firm, which worked with a diversified portfolio of clients, including Sylvan Learning Centers (NYC/ATL/Philly), the Atlanta High Museum of Art,  Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta and Emory HealthCare.

From 2006- 2009 she was the Executive Director of Brand Atlanta, Inc. where she reported to former Mayor Shirley Franklin, and worked with a wide spectrum of civic and corporate stakeholders, raising almost 1.5 million in support of regional marketing.

Melinda’s leadership skills were honed in her career as a chief marketing officer and senior vice president of marketing for Atlanta-based ad-agencies and corporations including Arby’s Inc., where she founded the Arby’s Foundation, which has donated over $70 million to child-oriented charities.

Melinda has served on many boards throughout her career and has been deeply involved in advocacy work, including the establishment of GunSense Georgia, a 501(c)(3), to lobby for sensible, safe gun policies and serving as co-chair for Georgia’s chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

In addition to serving on the Robert S. Abbott board, she is currently on the boards of Coastal Outreach Soccer, Coastal Volunteer Organization Active in Disaster (VOAD) and chairs the Emergency Food & Shelter Board for Glynn County.  She is on the Citizens Advisory Committee for Brunswick Area Transit (BATS), and an active member of Women’s Voices of Glynn.  Last year she was named Glynn County Volunteer of the Year by Coastal Georgia Area Community Action Authority.

Melinda resides on St. Simons Island with her husband.  She has two sons; one in college at UNC Asheville and her oldest, a public defender in Brooklyn, NY,
